Wachovia CEO's Insider Buying Is Another Indication of a Bottom [view article]
the key sentence here is "As a distant secondary indicator, I like to keep tabs on the insider buying habits of key executives" Jul 25 02:45 PMGaiam Won't Stay Off of Wall Street Radar for Long [view article]
Yes clarification is needed here.. Californina is 2/3 the solar market and RSOL happens to be a big player in California. Feb 18 12:49 AMHome Builders Surge, Overbought in Short Term; Top Play NVR [view article]
Abolutely, the market is ALWAYS the leading indicator. BLG looks like an interesting trade but certainly more risky than a LOW, HD or MHK as far as building supplier goes. As with the builders, these names are also quite overbought in the short term. Jan 31 06:04 PMWhy I Believe Stock Charts Are Leading Indicators [view article]
Of course charts aren't going to be 100% accurate and getting in at the exact bottom or exact top isn't going to happen. However, they do indicate the strength/weakness of any market. The charts alone predicted the coming sell off in Oct/Nov based on selling intensity and resistance levels alone. I was pounding the pavement on this for several weeks. As for what time frames or methods, the analysis works on all time frames and for the record I keep it simple and just base my analysis on price/volume & support/resistance. I don't think it needs to get more complicated than that. Seeking Alpha didn't include my chart analysis in the article for some reason. It's over at selfinvestors.com/trad.../ if interested. Jon, grab a beer and relax, you deserve it Aug 19 11:45 PMDespite Heavy Selling, the Bull Market is Still Intact [view article]
Hi Mike, I trade my own accounts only. As far as a good source of ETF info you might want to check out etfconnect.com for fund holding. etftrends.com is the best blog around for ETF info. I have my own custom built database that I use to track ETF price and volume movements as well as relative strength.. I'll try and post more using this info at my own blog.joe and muriel - negative market and bear market are very subjective terms. What defines a bear market? I personally base it on a break down of long term trends which we are on the verge of doing. If you had read article you may have noticed that my outlook is quite "bearish" over the next few months. Google Sell-Off Offers Opportunity [view article]
Ralph, William doesn't mention the bonus accrual or the acceleration of hiring.. these are very important components to the earnings miss and will be less of a factor next quarter. Also keep in mind that this is a company that is building out infrastructure at a torrid pace. What happens after the infrastructure is in place and all the pieces come together? Bottom line is that we have only seen the beginning of what this company is capable of. Moderating growth isn't surprising for a company this size so I would agree that we need to lower expectations a bit in the future but all the pieces are coming together for Google to dominant the web just as Microsoft dominated the desktop. I did Eddie.. thought the stock would take a hit but lucked out after it popped the next day. This thing is really tanking with no end in site. It's going to be awhile before I play another snap back rally! Jul 19 10:02 PMBeware of Stock Spam Promotion in Major Financial Publications [view article]
You have to wonder about the desperation for ad dollars or maybe ad dollars are so much greater than the potential for lost subscribers and/or credibility. Case in point - why does IBD run full length ads for competing services like gorillatrades and vector vest. Never understood that. The GZGT promotion is even more bewildering. It would be nice to hear a statement from at least one of these publications! Jun 12 07:16 PMGuangzhou Global Telecom: Golden Dragon Or Sleeping Snake? [view article]
Outstanding investigative journalism Davis. As you said, yes these kind of unscrupulous business practices, deals go on all the time and more needs to be done about it. What's so striking about this particular pump and dump is the incredible irresponsibility of Business Week, Fortune, Forbes and Investors Business Daily by running these full page ads. What were they thinking!? ..and why in the heck was Kiplingers the only major media outlet to pick this up? This is important and it absolutely should not happen again. Hi Daniel, what happened to Catablast? I had it in my blogroll and it's no longer.SPAR is a good one too and much cheaper than FRPT, but both are way extended. As I write this Cramer was praising your call and predicting higher prices!? I see SPAR running tomorrow morning once again but I'd be hesitant to get into either one at these levels - except for a quick day or swing trade. Agree that any pull backs offer buy opportunities though. May 11 06:36 PM

Couldn't agree more. I'm long at 20.50 and holding for the long term. Oct 17 04:12 AMThe Short Case On Journal Register [view article]
The short case over the long haul is understandable but from a short term technical perspective, there is some serious momentum behind this thing. Looks to me like it's headed right for the next level of resistance of the 200 day moving average at 10.. which would be a 40% gain! Oct 17 04:09 AMFree International Calls Are Latest Threat to the Telcos [view article]
Hi David, interesting company.. I'll check them out. I've been experimenting with Jajah.com which also allows you to make free international calls. Although I believe there are restrictions such as limited to one hour of talk time per day. It looks like it has an advantage over future phone because they allow you to call cell phones. Just sign up for an account, put in your number, their number and jajah does the rest. They use VOIP for most of the call and the telcos for the last mile if I'm not mistaken. I prefer it over skype because I'm not tethered to my computer. Just the other day, I clicked the call button on the Jajah.com site, I pick up my cell phone, it connects me to the destination and I'm out the door having a phone conversation with my friend in Paris from the US. The call quality isn't perfect which should be expected, but not poor either. A 45 min. call to Paris entirely free.. very cool! Oct 17 04:03 AMThursday's Rise to Resistance (QQQQ, SPY) [view article]
Ok, you got me, there may be some cliches in there. I'll try for a less mundane, more entertaining approach next time... maybe.I get the impression you're not a believer in technical analysis. That's fine, but technical analysis proves to be a valuable tool (at least for me) in taking analysis from pure "guessing" as you imply to an educated guess. Of course nobody knows where the market is going, but I can guage the probablity of a move in some direction with a look at support/resistance & price/volume movements. The charts above were indicating a much higher probablity of further deterioration over the following weeks then of a sustained breakout. As it turned out, the markets cleared that first level of resistance, but ulimately failed at the next level around the 50 day moving average. Thx for your comment Jul 13 10:20 PM
