Hm. What happened to the word psychoanalyst in my post? Censorship is not the prerogative of China?sweet! Reply
Apple's Bipolar China Disorder [view article]
Interesting reporting, but the meaning of passive-aggressive is not what you think. Plus, you are trying to steal attention (clicks) by using another psychiatric idiom 'bipolar disorder' incorrectly. Trust me, I am a psychiatrist/psychoana... -- I will spare you of my diagnosis...cheers! Reply

Have had no issues whatsoever with my macs at all and it is very hard to imagine how you could be having so many issues. ReplyApple: Great Company with Lofty Valuation - Due for Pullback [view article]
In my (likely widely-held) opinion, Apple makes great products (I'm typing on a MacBook, beaming my internet and iTunes music wirelessly via Airport, and will workout to an iPod Shuffle tomorrow morning). That being said, selfless promoters of growth stocks typically fail to heed what I consider to be the primary rule in economics - reversion to the mean.
Arguing over incremental tax benefits from option exercises is somewhat irrelevant from a value conclusions exercise. Value is determined by growth in excess of the a firm's economic costs of capital. There are way too many smart people out there paying attention to AAPL for me to waste any time coming to my own value conclusion. You all apparently have your own vehement opinions, which is all well and good. Just be cautious when trying to value future growth based on current valuations.
Also, to whoever the person was early in this bitter diatribe against the author that referenced AAPL's cash position as a rebuttal to overvaluation conclusions - cash is not an operating asset. Reply

Johnson & Johnson: The Type of Growth Stock I Favor [view article]
mollytjm,I wonder whether Apple deserves the credit you grant it.
The company -- and certainly the stock -- do not qualify as one that would interest Buffett on a whole number of levels, not solely because it is a technology company. Too, the company makes a number of mis-steps of late, and their secretive ways have inhibited the company from apologizing for anything... until this mobilme fiasco spiraled completely out of control. Unfortunately, other disconcerting problems begin to crop up; the silver lining is that they arise due to the company's torrid pace of growth. Reply

David,You are correct; I offered no comments in this post re Intuitive Surgical/ISRG. Wholly my error. Although my blog is littered with posts re the company and the stock, I keep forgetting that my posts that Seeking Alpha aggregates reach many readers unfamilar with my previous comments. I will figure out how to correct this issue.
btw, congratulations on a very nice and informative (and informed!) blog of your own.
Best wishes, Reply

Ok, to clarify, Nokia is not a player in the smartphone market in the US.The Apple iPhone is not a suitable device for use in a real workplace. You can't receive e-mail in real-time. Their push e-mail is a joke compared to a BB enterprise server. The iPhone may dominate regular users and casual business users, but true business users will stick with the BB and Palm. Reply

SEC -- I must have been a bit drunk.....lolMy only excuse is that July 31st (when I wrote that) was my birthday, and I might have had one too many. I actually don't even remember writing anything!
I have a Masters in Criminology, actually, although I will be sure not to show my Prof that statement!
For the record, I must have been trying to say, "I used ain't as a way of emphasizing my point"....
I think I am going to apply for Remedial English now..... Reply
Apple & Google: A Detailed Comparison [view article]
Google's biggest concern: keyword advertising matures and no new successful ventures => growth slows, valuation collapses, and good employees bail out.Apple's biggest concern: Steve's health and resurgent competition. Windows PC had already squashed Apple's dominance once, so there is no guarantee that they wouldn't do it again. I have noticed that Dell has improved a lot over the past year or so. Reply

You can't compare Apple and Google, it's just as silly as comparing Dell to Washington Post. Replyveloping

Will someone tell me which company will develop the lightsaber so I can run out and buy shares? Wheee! ReplyIs Amazon’s Kindle Success Sustainable? [view article]
OMG, comparing an iphone to a Kindle is like comparing a computer to a book, literally. People who think an iphone could in any way fill the same shoes as the Kindle probably don't even read. I've had my Kindle since January and I wouldn't trade it for anything.Of course, the Kindle could be better. Especially, it could have more textbooks available. So, there is plenty of room for improvement. Reply

Oh sorry Mmarrkk, as to storage, I mean for this time of year (see chart) not compared to the 3Tn+ level we usually get to by the year's end. What I said was right next to the picture I was talking about, the green dot of 2008 storage is above the midpoint of the 5-year average. 350 out of 2,903 lower than last year's extremely high August storage level.Reply
